England and Germany to bid for Euro 2024

England and Germany are set to bid to host the 2024 European Championship.

The Football Association (FA) has confirmed that it will submit a bid to UEFA, European football's governing body, by the March 15 deadline.

The German Football Association (DFB) has also confirmed its intention to bid. The tournament will be the first to be expanded to 24 teams, up from the current 16, and will be held from June 14 to July 14, 2024.

England last hosted a major football tournament in 1996, when it staged the European Championship. Germany last hosted a major tournament in 2006, when it hosted the World Cup.

The FA's bid will be led by former England captain David Beckham. The DFB's bid will be led by former Germany captain Lothar Matthaus.

Other countries that are expected to bid for the tournament include Turkey, Russia, and Italy.
